Organic - Mixed Media
These pieces of artwork contain some form of an organic material. The first grouping contain birch bark from our tree in our front yard. It has been gracing our front yard since the day we moved into our home in 1990. Aubrie Rose, my granddaughter, and I were playing in our front yard and I stopped to show her how cool the birch bark was that was pealing off from the trunk of the tree. With her big beautiful eyes I could tell that she could see the beauty in it, which melted my heart. So, of course, I had her help me gather some up with the intention of using it in my artwork. I was amazed at how the bark could be painted and still keep the wood grain. If you have the chance to see these pieces in person, I think you would enjoy the detail. Please take the time to "View Larger Images" so you can appreciate the textures of these materials. I have enjoyed using this “family heirloom” in several of my pieces and I will continue to incorporate it into more pieces. So far, I have only used neutral colors but I do see a future for turquoise, purple or even chartreuse!
