African Vogue
My African Vogue collection was created to capture the beauty of African women. I saw a pillow covered in a material that had primitive drawings of African women on it and that inspired this entire collection. I decided to use the word vogue since this style reminded me of the Madonna song “Vogue” or as many called it "Strike a pose" which was released in 1990.

Here are some of the lyrics for some of you that are already singing the song . . .

Come on, vogue
Let your body move to the music (move to the music)
Hey, hey, hey
Come on, vogue
Let your body go with the flow (go with the flow)
You know you can do it

All you need is your own imagination
So use it that’s what it’s for (that’s what it’s for)
Go inside, for your finest inspiration
Your dreams will open the door (open up the door)

Now, wasn’t that fun!

African Vogue #7
African Vogue with a twist. I thought I would try a new technique for this piece. It gives the painting a sort of woodgrain look. Acrylic painting on a stretched canvas. Textured background.

African Vogue #9
I have added a new dimension to my African Vogue style of paintings. These "Single Ladies" are created using a technique that gives the background a weathered sort of look. Then I have used high pigmented acrylic paint to give the colors an added boost of interest. I have also used the weathered background to give the skin tones a simple but effective uniqueness. The combination of orange and blue really seem to compliment each other in this piece.  SOLD

African Vogue #10
I have added a new dimension to my African Vogue style of paintings. These "Single Ladies" are created using a technique that gives the background a weathered sort of look. I have also used the weathered background to give the skin tones a simple but effective uniqueness. The contrast between the ivory and the dark warm browns adds an added appeal.
